Contrary to popular belief, I wrote this months before I ever knew
about Saving Private Ryan. I wanted to write a new World War II movie that
brought the Lethal Weapon style action to the old war movies. First the
idea that the Germans had invented so many different things in their last
few years amazed me. They had rockets and even jets in active service.
That spawned a great story idea. "What if ? "
I enlisted the help of a published World War II historian, to help me with dates and locations. He provided me with all the technical info I needed, allowing me room for creative licence, to proceed with an outline. From there I gathered documents and materials to authenticate most everything. I went to the Dayton Air Force Museum and walked around and touched a real B-17 and even the German jet aircraft as well (ironically placed beneath the wing of the B-17, fate perhaps ?) - Peter John Ross 1998 |
